What is Biblical Counseling?

Biblical counseling is a method of counseling that holds that “the Bible, given by God, is sufficient for life in that, when properly interpreted, it reveals to the believer al the data necessary for one to understand his need for Christ, how he can please the Lord, and how to live in a God-honoring way regardless of the circumstances.

In biblical counseling the gospel is paramount. Without a right understanding and acceptance o the Gospel, long-term change is impossible. The gospel affects every area of our lives on a daily basis. For example, whey do we seek to serve? because Christ first served us. Why do we lay down our lives for others? Because our Lord Jesus Christ laid down his life for others. How do we deal with the far of man? by looking at how God is the only one worthy of fear. He, through hsi work on the cross has given us a new identity, we are no his children.

“Those who practice biblical counseling believe that genuine heart change is totally dependent on the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Thus, the counseling practice includes the importance of prayer, dependence on God, a thorough knowledge of the Word of God, and an understanding of ministering to the people.”1 For more information, visit
